Meet our staff
Vanessa Sword spent her youth riding, showing, and spending as much time as possible around horses. After graduating high school, Vanessa held a variety of jobs, including some horse related jobs. She also completed her degree at Cal State University Dominguez Hills. "I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do," says Vanessa "but I did know I kept getting drawn back to horses." Her searching allowed her to develop a variety of valuable skills, and when she came to Hansen Dam Riding School she knew this was the perfect place to put all those skills to work in what she describes as her dream job.
"Hansen Dam Riding School let's me work around horses and share my love and knowledge of them with kids and adults wanting to learn how to ride," explains Vanessa. With strong teaching skills, combined with unwaving enthusiasm, Vanessa enjoys helping students progress and achieve their goals. She uses the American Forward System of riding as her foundation, and is a perpetual student in that she seeks to add to her knowledge and experience.
From the first time rider to the rider wanting to master jumping courses, Vanessa is their to guide, coach, and encourage riders in a safe, fun environment.
